“Boosting Skills and Jobs: Furniture Delivery Transforms Ethiopian TVET Institutions”

Supply, Delivery and Installation of Furniture for 17 Beneficiary Institutions

For 20 years, German Financial Cooperation with Ethiopia has been supporting efforts to make vocational training more demand-driven. Phase four of the Vocational Education and Agricultural Training Programme continues to strengthen skills and competencies that meet the needs of both economic and social sectors, enabling employment and self-employment opportunities.

In recent years, Ethiopia has made significant progress in the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sector, both in the quality and the availability of training offered to students. Through German Financial Cooperation, the German Development Bank (KfW) has supported Ethiopia for two decades in making vocational training more practice-oriented and aligned with private-sector needs. By becoming more market-focused, effective TVET contributes directly to job creation and the development of business opportunities in both the formal and informal sectors.

In 2019, a contract was signed between GRAIDCO Global Relief, Aid & Development Company B.V. and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in Ethiopia for the supply of 34 different furniture items, including chairs, tables, shelving, sofas and school boards, with a total quantity of 14,212 pieces. We successfully procured, delivered and installed all items, amounting to 68 containers of furniture, within the contract timeframe and distributed them across 17 beneficiary institutions.
