"Improving sustainable value chains for exports from Ghana"

Supply, delivery, installation and user training of Furniture Testing Equipment for the Forestry Research Institute of Ghana (FORIG).

We have been awarded the contract by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for the supply, delivery, installation and user training of Furniture Testing Equipment for the Forestry Research Institute of Ghana (FORIG). This initiative will strengthen local research capacity, improve the quality of forest products and contribute to sustainable development and livelihoods for communities dependent on these value chains.

The project “Improving Sustainable Value Chains for Exports from Ghana” aims at supporting Ghana’s integration into world markets by developing a competitive and sustainable export economy compliant with trade-related standards, while generating direct benefits for local communities. The objectives are to ensure that the selected value chains in fruits, cocoa, fish products and wood enhance their sustainability, quality and export competitiveness by complying with international standards and gain access to conformity assessment services, thereby improving livelihoods and economic opportunities for local producers. In addition, the national quality system is strengthened to provide world-class conformity assessment services, including testing, certification and inspection to the selected value chains, benefiting both producers and consumers

The project seeks to ensure that goods and services originating from or traded in Ghana are designed, produced and supplied in a sustainable manner that meets the needs, expectations and requirements of purchasers, consumers, regulatory authorities and local communities.

The Forestry Research Institute of Ghana (FORIG), one of the 13 institutes of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), is mandated to undertake forest, forest product and related research, disseminate and commercialize research outputs, and provide services that deliver social, economic and environmental benefits for society, including the communities that rely on these value chains.
